Latest update

Okay, so I should talk a little bit about the last little while. Life has been super busy for Jess and me. We helped get Jess' Grandma moved into an assisted living place that is really nice. After Jess' Grandpa died, it just got too hard for Nanny to keep everything going at their house. She now has a little apartment not too far from where her house was, and doesn't have to worry about any upkeep. Jess' cousin got married last week to a girl from Russia. It took a bit to get all of the paperwork done for her to come, but all of that is in the past now. Kaleb continues to grow and is constantly surprising us with the things he says and does. Some of his most recent outbursts include:
"I'm not grumpy, I'm GROUCHY!!!"
"Dad, can you turn to the right a little bit?" This was when the sun was in his eyes while driving home.
And when asked who taught him to be silly he always replies "Grandma"

We spent last weekend in Vegas which was a lot of fun. It was a short trip, and I was sick coming home, but all in all, I was really glad we went. While we were there, we played a little Rock Band 2, and visited a ton. We got to see the new painting and redecorating efforts, which looked great! Kaleb also got to play with some of his cousins that he hasn't seen for a while. While we were coming home, he said "I don't want to go home, I want to go back to Grandma's". I guess he liked it there. We also got to go to Meghan's baptism. I still can't believe she's 8. It just doesn't seem possible. You would figure that I would have an easier time than some due to the fact that she is 20 years younger than me, but I think it is just hard for me to grasp.
To continue our busy life, Jess is going to St. George this weekend to spend some time with the women in her mom's family. They are doing their semi-annual girls weekend. I will get to spend some time showing Kaleb some new wrestling moves which should be a lot of fun.
As always, life continues to roll forward whether we like it or not. I just try to hang on and enjoy the ride.

Jessica's Turn

I succeeded in getting Jess to fill in the blanks as well, so here is her list.

I am: Jessica
I think: Too much
I know: More than I should
I want: "I want, I want, me, me, me, my, my, my, now, now, now..."
I dislike: spiders
I miss: watching cartoons on Saturday mornings
I fear: yet again, spiders
I feel: tired
I hear: co-workers chatting
I smell: nothing
I crave: Disney land churros
I cry: occasionally
I usually: get up at 6
I search: ponder and pray
I wonder: why I think I'm funny
I regret: the times I've been mean to people
I love: my family
I care: about too much
I always: laugh
I worry: about offending people
I am not: perfect
I remember: movie quotes
I believe: in a lot
I dance: when no one is around to see
I sing: when no one is around to listen
I don’t always: pay attention
I argue: when I feel I'm right :)
I write: rather doodle when I'm bored
I win: so rarely it's not really funny any more
I lose: so often that it is funny
I wish: I could have a clean house that stayed that way more than 10 minutes
I listen: when others talk
I don't understand: why other people think the way they do
I can usually be found: at work or at home
I am scared: of creepy crawlies

Jumping on the Band Wagon!!

I am: blessed.
I think: about others, or at least I try.
I know: the church is true.
I want: $1,000,000 (sorry inside joke. Ask Jess about it)
I dislike: rude, crude, lude, bags of rechewed food dudes.
I miss: Grandma
I fear: nothing, at least that is what Kaleb thinks.
I feel: my Savior's love.
I hear: less and less, thanks Dad.
I smell: with my nose, wow I think some one farted...I hope it wasn't me.
I crave: too much. Can you tell?
I cry: when I get overwhelmed. (either by the spirit, or just by life in general)
I usually: like to read, watch movies, talk, or play games
I search: the internet frequently
I wonder: when Ben will get his X-Box back.
I regret: nothing. I don't live in the past, but try to learn from my mistakes
I love: my family! They're awesome!
I care: for those in need whenever I can.
I always: look to the future.
I worry: about the things I can control.
I am not: pessimistic
I remember: the good old days. (you know, when gas was under a buck)
I believe: I can fly...really!
I dance: like Omarion...in my head. Where else can a fat white guy do that? In reality I dance in green spandex tights with sequins all over them that were a little bit smaller than they should have been. I know, I know. You don't have to keep bringing out the video to prove it.
I sing: like Pavorotti. Okay, so that's in my head too, but at least that isn't as far fetched as the dancing.
I don’t always: get the most kills when playing Rainbow 6, but I usually do. :-D
I argue: too much.
I write: in sudoku and crossword puzzle books. That's about it.
I win: ...that's it, I win.
I lose: enough to keep me humble...okay, more humble anyway.
I wish: there really was a money tree planted in my back yard.
I listen: when there isn't anything going on that will distract me. I'm as bad as Ben, and sometimes worse.
I don't understand: why people drive 45 miles/hour in the passing lane of the freeway.
I can usually be found: but sometimes it takes a while.
I am scared: of spiders
I need: nothing. I am grateful for all that I've been given.
I forget: to tell Jess a lot of things. Especially things that the family is planning on doing .
I am happy!!!

I have to give props to Ben and Taryn for this, but Jess and I liked it so much, we decided to do the same thing. I'm going to try to make it easy to read, so the question will be in green, my answers will be red, and Jess' answers will be blue. My band is Journey, and Jess decided to go with BNL.

A Great Break

So I thought I had better spread the word that the Logan Anniversary Inn is way cool, and anyone wanting to go to one of their rooms should definitely keep that in mind as they are looking. We went there last weekend and had a blast. The Costco here in Salt Lake has gift certificates that they sell, so we got the room for almost half price. The Inn itself is a bunch of homes that have been converted into the different themed rooms. They have really done a great job. We went to Joanie's Diner, a fifty's diner themed room, and it was so much fun. They had a juke box, hot dogs, banana splits, and a soda fountian right in the room. They really did a great job with the decorating, and even had a phone booth that really worked. For those who like the traditional cheesecake and sparkling cider, don't worry, they have those too. Jess and I were sick by the time we went to bed. It was a much needed break, and was very nice to have. The only down side to the whole thing is that Jess and I forgot our camera, and could have kicked ourselves. There are nice picks online, but it just isn't the same as being right there.

New Addition!!!

No, it's not what you think, but it is close anyway. We decided we didn't have enough going on, and figured we still had a little bit of space in our house, so we got ourselves a mini lop-eared bunny. It was what Jess wanted for Mother's Day, and I was happy to oblige. We found a cute black one that is very adorable, and loves to cuddle. He is very mild mannered as well, which will be nice for Kaleb, who has already figured out that if he screams, it makes the bunny jump. Now we just need to make sure he knows that it isn't as funny as he thinks. He already knows his name, and is always ready to go see Jack. Jack has been so much fun, and I think it has helped Jess to have a pet again. She really like to hold soft fluffy animals, and pet them. Though I fit most of those categories, I don't quite do the trick. (It's probably due to the ogre in me)

Catching Up

As you can guess, I'm sure, Jess and I have been through many things to get us to this point in our life. Right now, I'm not going to go into that much, but may go wild one day and go into more detail. For now, I don't want to bore you too much with a long, drawn out lecture of my life.

Jess and I met after I got home from my mission for the LDS church when my sister lined us up on a blind date. I didn't know it at the time, but Jess apparently knew half of my family already through working at Macey's (a local grocery store). We had a quick courtship, but longer engagement, and the next thing I new I was living in Salt Lake with the love of my life. We moved on two different occasion. The first time was from our basement apartment in Midavle to my sister, Cari's house in Murray. The next, and hopefully last time, was into our own home in Midvale. Throughout the same time, Jess and I both started working for the University of Utah in their payroll office.

We were blessed with a beautiful little boy on February 9, 2006, and have enjoyed watching hime grow over the last 2 years. It really is amazing to see the new things he learns everyday. Both Jess and I have had changes in our positions at the U in that time. Jess is still in the payroll office, but has now done just about everything that you can do in that office. She really enjoys the people she works with, and loves the work...usually. I have moved around a little bit more. I took an associate accountant position in the Bioengineering Department in January of 2007, and worked there for almost a year. This past November I was offered an accountant position in Chemistry, and couldn't pass it up. I also enjoy my work, and the department I am in.

Throughout our married life we have served in our ward in a variety of ways. We have been nursery leaders, and primary teachers. We've both served in the Young Men/Young Women presidencies. I have served in the ward mission, and we both are now taking a little break and serving with the activities committee.

Overall, life is great, and we just hold on tight and enjoy the ride.
